We're often asked about foreclosures in our market. Many people are intrigued by foreclosures, thinking that they'll be able to pick up a good deal. In some cases this is true--there are often deals to be had in the foreclosure market.
One common misconception that many people have is that they have to sign up or belong to some sort of foreclosure service in order to get listings of foreclosures. This is simply not the case. All foreclosure are listed in the MLS and you should NEVER pay a fee for a list of foreclosed properties. These can be obtained free from any Realtor.

Currently, there are 300 active foreclosures in the tri-county market which consists of Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties. There are opportunities out there but please, make use of searching the free listings and don't ever pay for a subscription which will show nothing more than what the MLS will.
