Charleston is home to many second home residents.  It's a great destination for a second home getaway.  Many people have their permanent homes in other states but, choose to have a second home or vacation home in Charleston, South Carolina--and for lots of good reasons!  If you prefer just a fractional ownership in a property as opposed to purchasing a property in its entirety, there are plenty of fractional ownership opportunities on the Charleston area beaches.  Fractional ownership is great if you aren't yet retired and maybe only have a limited number of weeks per year that you could spend in your vacation home.

The Charleston climate is just one of the reasons why Charleston is a great place for a second home.  While our summers can get quite hot, we do have four seasons unlike other southern states, such as Florida which used to be the second home or retiree captial.  Interestingly, quite a number of second home owners in the Charleston area are not yet of retirement age.  Those residing in nearby cities and towns to Charleston can make a home in Charleston an easy getaway for the weekend to enjoy all of the festivals and activities that Charleston has to offer year round.

Not only is Charleston rich in history, with one of the largest geograhic historic districts, it is very cultural with a variety of ongoing cultrual venues and great eating establishments.  Every year at the end of May, the Piccolo Spoleto Festival embarks on the city of Charleston making it a spectacular time to immerse yourself in all things art.  This year the Spoleto Festival runs from May 28th through June 13.

There are many great areas to purchase a second home in Charleston.  The Peninsula of Charleston is the top pick for many people who want to be in the heart of all things Charleston.  It offers a true urban lifestyle where you can park your car and not go near it for weeks on end.  There has never been a better time to purchase real estate in the Peninsula of Charleston

With prices still deflated from the recent housing slump and rates still under 5%, now may be a good time to give the Charleston Peninsula a look!

Feel free to contact us for real estate information in and around the Peninsula.   Having grown up in Charleston, we know the area better than most and we'd be more than happy to answer any of your real estate questions.
